Action-Roguelike Noita takes its physics sandbox out of Early Access

Indie studio Nolla Games has fully released Noita on PC. The Early Access sensation is now available in version 1.0 together with a nice 20% launch discount on PC. You can watch the launch trailer below!

After only a year in Steam Early Access, Nolla Games finished their work on Noita. The action-roguelike launched last year in August and immediately won over gamers. It currently sits at a mighty 95% Positive User Review rating on Steam. But there’s confusingly little talk about the game somehow.

A real shame, since Noita offers a deep and unique design at its core. The roguelike genre is anything but underrepresented these days. But most of its incarnations focus on traditional action. Nolla Games went a different route by combining physics simulation with real-time action.

Pixel-based physics: Every pixel in the world is simulated. Burn, explode or melt anything. Swim in the blood of your foes! Enter a simulated world that is more interactive than anything you’ve seen before.
Your own magic: Create new spells as you delve deeper into the caverns. Use magic to crush your enemies and manipulate the world around you.
Procedurally generated world: Explore a unique world every time you play. Discover new environments as you adventure deeper.
Action roguelite: Death is permanent and always a looming threat. When you die, don’t despair, use what you’ve learned to get further on your next adventure.

The result is glorious mayhem with a deep layer of customization. The player can upgrade and combine all kinds of effects in their magical staff which can lead to hilarious results. Freeze enemies and hazards or burn them to a crisp. Maybe you’re into electrocuting? Go ahead! Mix and match however you like.

As a roguelike, this comes in the form of a double-edged sword, however. You’re just as vulnerable to the effects of your attacks as is your enemy. If you put into the equation the unpredictable nature of physical simulation, you can expect tons of hilarious run-ending suicides.

Noita is now out on PC and has a special 20% launch discount until this Thursday. Grab it for just $15.99 on Steam, GOG, Humble, or itch.io before it jumps to its standard price of $19.99.
