Earlier today, Activision announced that more than $1 billion of Call of Duty: Ghosts has been sole into retail stores worldwide as of day one. The publisher was a little more closely guarded than usual when it came to actual consumer sales of the highly anticipated shooter, but its an impressive feat nonetheless.
And while we're not sure how much of that $1 billion is split between current- and next-gen versions of the game, Activision revealed that "according to GameStop, Call of Duty: Ghosts is their most pre-reserved next gent title."
"This is the must have launch title for the next generation of consoles, and we expect Call of Duty: Ghosts to be the most successful launch title for the Xbox One and PS4 by a wide margin," Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg added.
If true, expect sales for Activision's long-standing franchise to boom later this month when both the PS4 and Xbox One release.
