We have all felt the burn of breaking something we care about, whether it's accidentally breaking your first stuffed animal or pouring water all over an electronic – we've all been there. The question is, what did we do after the fact?
An eight-year-old boy in Japan didn't cry over his spilt water (well, he probably did… But at least he cleaned up the mess). The boy had placed his beloved 3DS in his backpack, along with a thermos whose lid wasn't closed tightly. The thermos tipped over in the bag, spilling its contents onto the unsuspecting 3DS.
Advised by his parent, Illil (via Kotaku), the eight-year-old called Nintendo's customer service center to arrange for the 3DS to get repaired. In the box containing the waterlogged 3DS, the boy included a letter of apology.
The letter reads:
"I apologize for accidentally getting [my 3DS] wet. I’d like to think I’ve already resigned myself to not seeing my 3DS, which is always with me. From here on out, I aim to close my thermos’ lid correctly. I am truly sorry."
The guilt of having killed the thing you love the most is a hard burden to bear.
