Adventures in Babysitting gets a TV movie remake on Disney Channel

Don't f*ck with the babysitter

One of my favorite movies from the 1980s is Adventures in Babysitting, which was the directorial debut for Chris Columbus (Home Alone, the first two Harry Potter films. Not only because of my insane crush on Elizabeth Shue, though that helped. It was just a great, fun movie with some awesome and memorable moments. Shue starred as a teenager that had to go pick up her friend in the city, so she brought the kids she was babysitting with her. The car gets a flat, things go awry, they get involved in a criminal chop shop and chased through the city.

It was so wonderful. And now Disney is trying to cash in on that wonderful 80s movie. Needless to say, I don't think there will be a "Don't f*ck with the babysitter" line in it.

Disney Channel, who recently rebooted Boy Meets World with Girl Meets World, is making a TV movie based on Adventures in Babysitting. The new movie is titled Further Adventures in Babysitting. It is the same type of premise, except it stars a Disney Channel celeb. This time, the movie will focus on a pair of babysitters that go into the city to retrieve a child they were watching — I'm guessing they lost him/her? The babysitters will be played by Sabrina Carpenter of Girl Meets World and Sofia Carson of MTV's Faking It. It's being directed by John Schulz, who directed Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer. That movie is the proud owner of a 19% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Joy.

At least it's not Michael Bay. There's no room for explosions in this movie.

This won't ruin the original for me. Nothing could ruin that for me — much like The Phantom Menace didn't ruin the original Star Wars trilogy for me. I'm just hoping that this isn't that successful, because I don't need to see what else Disney has up their sleeves for 80s movie remakes…
