It took 17 years to be found, but it finally happened. Someone found the 977th coin in Donkey Kong 64. Speedrunner Isotarge unearthed the coin in the fifth level by looking at how the game formats save data.
According to reports, Isotarge noticed that the save information for the rainbow coin was incomplete in the save information. The speedrunner took this information and used analysis tools to discover the coins locations.
Luckily, Donkey Kong 64 players won't have to go through all the efforts that Isotarge did to discover the coin. You just need to head to the Fungi Forest and smash the dirt pile hidden in tall grass (like the person in the video below did).
