After a long journey, Metro: Last Light releases today

Today is the day. After a delay from its original mid-2012 release, Metro: Last Light is finally available. As one of my "notable" game releases for May, Metro: Last Light certainly lived up to expectations, scoring an impressive 8.5/10 here on GameZone (full review here).

“We are happy to release Metro: Last Light and very confident with the quality of the game” said Deep Silver International Commercial Director, Menno van der Bil. The story of Deep Silver's acquisition of Metro is quite compelling, as the publisher saved the title from the bankrupt THQ. “I am sure that Metro: Last Light will meet the fans expectations, and Deep Silver is very proud to embrace such an outstanding title in its lineup.”

As a sequel to Metro 2033, the game once again puts you in the shoes of Artyom who serves with the neutral Rangers squad in the midst of Russia's nuclear attacks. Rather than stand united, the station-cities of Metro are locked in a struggle for ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. As Artyom, you hold the key to humanity's survival.

Sound intriguing enough? It should, because acclaimed author Dmitry Glukhovsky also had a role in writing the story for the game. So you know you're getting a great story along with stunning visuals and technical gameplay.

It may have been a long journey down a twisted road, but humanity's darkest hour is finally upon us. Metro: Last Light is available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
