After being blocked by Konami, Hideo Kojima will attend this year’s Game Awards and receive a major award

Now he will officially have the title 'Industry Icon'

It feels like it's been a while since Hideo Kojima has been in the news for a long time. That's probably a good thing since it means he's down under working on Death Stranding, but it looks like he will be coming up for some air on December 1st. Not that you need any reminder, but if you recall, Hideo Kojima was prevented from attending The Game Awards last year for "employment" and "contract" reasons which obviously didn't sit well with anyone.

Now almost a year later, Game Awards host Geoff Keighley tweeted out the announcement that not only will Kojima be at the show, but he will also receive the award for Industry Icon.

Here's the Tweet:

Meanwhile, Konami's PR shit storm has continued over the last year, culminating with the reveal of Metal Gear: Survive, a game that pretty much looks like a re-worked version of The Phantom Pain. Obviously, it remains to be seen whether or not the game will be any good, but early fan reaction is not good.

That Game Awards will air on Thursday, December 1st, 2016.
