Every now and then we here at GameZone take a break from Serious Reading and fall into a trash hole of genre crap. One time it was to catch up on the Jem and the Holograms comics. This week it was steampunk novels. Next week it will probably be nothing but spycraft. There’s nothing wrong with this and this is a judgement free zone. It’s rude of you to suggest otherwise.
I really only mention this only as a segue into talking about Steamfarer, which made some noise a while back when it won Best 3D Graphics at Intel’s Level Up contest. That’s pretty impressive for a game being developed by a single individual, Igor Rashkuev.
Steamfarer seeks to position itself as an RPG about steampunk airships and the developer is claiming the combat to be "distantly reminiscent of Final Fantasy's active-time battle system and combat system of FTL: Faster Than Light".
It will eventually be coming to Steam and will feature plenty of different ships, crews and upgrades, that’s kind of exactly what you would expect out of this sort of game. It does however now have a trailer which demonstrates some of the airbattles and weaponry. However, the official website’s layout may have given me a migraine, so, you know, watch out for that.
