Clowns are one of the biggest scariest things ever in the eyes of many people. They are eerily happy and look just really unsettling, that's why Stephen King chose to make the villain of his most iconic story a shape-shifting clown named Pennywise.
Stephen King's classic story titled It sees a group of children in Maine encounter an entity that only they can see. It haunts them with their worst fears and feeds on children, causing the deaths and kidnappings of many kids leading to terror in the town. They must prevail and stop Pennywise no matter what it takes, even if it means abandoning their adult lives if Pennywise ever returns to Maine.
King's story was made into an ABC mini-series back in the 90s but Warner Bros. is gearing up to release an R-rated remake of the story on the big screen. To celebrate, Alamo Drafthouse is hosting a clown only screening at one of their theaters. The idea came from a fan after Alamo Drafthouse hosted a controversial women only screening of Wonder Woman back in June.

The event pokes fun at how stupid the whole controversy was and shows that Alamo Drafthouse is willing to make light of it. The clown only screening is not limited to professional clowns, as long as you dress up you can enjoy the film and festivities held at the theater.
You can read the details below.
For this special Clown screening of IT, all attendees should arrive dressed as a clown in order to attend. Please arrive early and join us in the Barrel O' Fun beginning at 5:30pm for an IT pre-party where we will have face-painters available for clown "touch-ups", a photo booth, raffles for prizes, and other terrifying merriment. Please arrive in your own Pennywise best and be ready to float with us.
