Alekhine’s Gun is a Russian espionage game, not about chess

Sadly, Alekhine’s Gun doesn’t appear to be game about violent chess matches that can force resignation within a handful of moves. Nor does it appear to be a high stakes dual between the hypermoderns and the Russian dynamics. There’s also probably not going to be an appearance by Deep Blue.

What Alekhine’s Gun does appear to be is a stealth espionage game set against a back drop of the Cold War. Maximum Games describes it as, “… you dive into your latest mission, enemies and allies become blurred, strategy is critical, and stealth is your Modus Operandi. The fate of America, and quite possibly the world, is in your hands.”

The game will feature eleven game levels, taking you through Europe, the US and into Cuba, while allowing the player to utilize an array of both stealth and straight forward methods to move through the game. Stampeding through boards and killing anything that twitches will work against you, lowering your overall ranking. Each level provides multiple routes to explore and hidden areas to uncover as well as various means of execution for completing missions.

This not-about-actually-about-chess game goes up against some stiff competition, releasing the same day as Fallout 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider on November 10th.
