American McGee's re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland is one of the best takes on an established IP's that gaming has ever seen. While in many respects, the gameplay didn't quite live up to the games' exceptional worlds, both Alice games are considered something in the way of cult classics. The second of the two, Alice: Madness Returns was the only one to make it to mainstream gamers via console back in 2011. Now, six years later, the game is available to play on Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility.
Larry Hyrb made the announcement via Twitter.
American McGee's Alice in Wonderland series got its start as a PC exclusive simply titled "American McGee's Alice" back in 2001. The game is relatively hard to find these days (at least legitimately) but isn't terribly expensive if you buy off of Amazon. Madness Returns seriously upped the ante in terms of its visuals as it was built in Unreal Engine, allowing its style to take off and flourish. The game can still be bought on PSN, Xbox Live, and EA Origin and retails for $19.99.
So if you are an Xbox gamer and have never taken the dive into this modern cult classic, do yourself a favor and pick up Alice: Madness Returns ASAP.
