Alien: Covenant getting VR experience ahead of CES 2017

In VR, no one can hear you scream

Fox Innovation Lab, Twentieth Century Fox, MPC VR, and Ridley Scott are partnering up to create a new VR experience for Scott’s upcoming film Alien: Covenant.

Said to be a “dread-inducing journey,” the new VR experience will be executive produced by Scott, giving participants a chance to “discover the true meaning of terror as they navigate through horrifying alien environments and a story where every decision could mean the difference between life and death."

The new experience is being compared to Fox’s "The Martian VR Experience," which is a 20-minute experience that debuted at CES 2016 and is currently available on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive.

VR experiences are becoming part of the norm with film marketing. We recently saw the Assassin’s Creed film get a VR experience ahead of its release, and Fox is said to be in business agreements to develop more VR productions based on its properties.

CES 2017 is expected to officially get underway on January 5, 2017.

Alien: Covenant released its first trailer just a few weeks ago, which you can check out below. The film is slated to hit theaters May 19, 2017.
