Alien: Covenant is still a little ways off, and apparently has had quite the journey. It seems to be an understatement that a lot of things have changed about this movie since it started being made in 2012. After it had been reported that Noomi Rapace's character Elizabeth Shaw would not be returning to the series (after it was previously said that the movie would be about her when it was still Prometheus 2), it turns out that Shaw will at least be making an appearance in Alien: Covenant. So just to recap: she was going to be in the movie, then she wasn't, and now she is again.
Despite the fact that Katherine Waterston is playing the film's lead, Daniels, Deadline is reporting that Noomi Rapace is in Austrailia shooting a few weeks worth of scenes. So while Elizabeth Shaw may not be the focal point of the movie, she may end up playing a major role.
Alien: Covenant is set to return a lot of the series' staples, including face huggers and chest poppers as it gradually moves closer to the timeline of the original Alien movies. The movie will hit theaters on August 4th, 2017.
