Final Fantasy XV has been on the market for just under a week, and its launch has been a huge success for Square Enix. It is the company's fastest launch in their history and it appears it has come most via the PS4 version of the game, at least over in the UK. According to sales figures from GFK Chart-Track, 79% of Final Fantasy XV's first week sales of physical copies were for the PlayStation 4, leaving the Xbox One with only 21%.
This is not necessarily much of a surprise, as Final Fantasy has been predominantly a Sony brand since the release of Final Fantasy VII, with Xbox only getting a main entry Final Fantasy game beginning with XIII. Final Fantasy XV was re-unveiled at Sony's magical E3 2013 presser and had never appeared at a Microsoft event until just this past E3. Suffice it to say, it seemed as though Microsoft's version was almost considered "the other one" by default, but it could say something about the demographics of gamers on each console.
Fortunately for Xbox fans, Final Fantasy XV runs at a more stable 30 FPS than its PS4 cousin, so at least there's that.
