Shadow of the Colossus will forever go down as one of my favorite experiences in gaming. That’s right, I truly believe that Team Ico’s second endeavor is more than a game–it’s a larger than life experience. And I know I’m not the only one who feels that way. That’s why it’s interesting to learn that while E3 was going on and gamers everywhere were learning about the latest platforms and games, Fumito Ueda was hard at work digging through old concept sketches and artwork.
Among his most notable findings was art for Shadow of the Colossus. But this wasn’t just any old artwork. This was concept art for an earlier ending idea to Shadow of the Colossus.
Aside from being artsy and cool, the concept sketches are incredibly interesting. From the looks of it, Ueda and Team Ico had an entirely different idea planned for the game’s ending. It’s anyone’s guess at this point, but let’s hope Ueda releases some more insight into these sketches.
If you’re a fan of Team Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, be sure to check out Ueda’s Twitter and scope out drawings of the alternate ending of the game. What are your thoughts? What do you think is going on in the concept art?
