Amazing Spider-Man 2 may not release on Xbox One

If you're an Xbox One owner looking forward to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, then I'm afraid I've got some bad news.

The latest promotional image for the game features box arts for the following consoles:

  • Xbox 360
  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 3
  • PC
  • Wii U
  • Nintendo 3DS

Notice anything missing? That's right; there's no image for the Xbox One box-art.

Activision issued the following statement to Game Informer regarding the surprising turn of events:

We are working with Microsoft in an effort to release The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game on Xbox One. Currently, the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and the PC on April 29th, 2014 as previously announced.

It's too early in developments to jump to conclusions as to why the Xbox One version of the game isn't on target for a release. Regardless, it's pretty troubling news for console owners. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.

Oh, and yes, that was a wrestling reference in the opening sentence. No, I'm not ashamed to admit that.
