Amazon ‘Countdown to Black Friday’ sale discounts Xbox One and PS4 games

Amazon is getting a jump start on the holiday competition, hosting a massive "Countdown to Black Friday" sale on video games.

"Black Friday 2014 is almost here, but we didn't want you to wait until the day after Thanksgiving for Black Friday deals, so we kicked off the savings a little early," the online retailer says.

Starting now, you can get 40% off or more on a number of games for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS, and PC. This includes: inFAMOUS: Second Son, Need for Speed: Rivals, MLB 15: The Show,  Knack, Thief, Grand Theft Auto 5 (last-gen version), Call of Duty: Ghosts, Tomb Raider, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and many more games.

Of course, in buying one of these games now, you run the risk of missing out on an even better deal later on. On the other hand, I think most of the Black Friday deals will focus on this year's biggest blockbusters. I think these older games will mostly stay the same price.

And, on the plus side, by ordering off Amazon you avoid the holiday hassle of fighting a crowd. Nothing beats shopping in your underwear.
