As someone that recently got rid of cable and satellite service to go with the less expensive Hulu+, Netflix and Amazon Prime options, today is a good day. Amazon Prime Instant Video comes with Amazon's $79-a-year Prime service. Prime Instant Video is Amazon's streaming video service, and it's only free for Amazon Prime members. Since it was introduced, the availabe movies and tv shows available have grown exponentially. If a show you want isn't available for free instant streaming, you get a discounted price to buy that show, which you can then stream to any device you have the Prime Instant Video app on.
So get ready to add another plus to Prime Instant Videos. NBC Universal and Amazon announced a deal today that will bring older episodes of NBCU shows like Parks and Rec, Parenthood, Friday Night Lights, Heroes, and Battlestar Galactica. None of these shows are exclusive to Amazone Prime Instant Video, but it's a good step in catching up to the competition. You can see all the new content HERE.
Right now, I use Hulu+ as my streaming service for Parks and Rec and Parenthood, but those have commercials in it. I am definitely a huge fan of Prime Instant building its library so I can start to use their service more than the others.
