In the wake of the admittedly unsurprising delay of Ubisoft's next-gen projects Watch Dogs and The Crew, Amazon Video Games has clarified the matter of pre-ordered PS4 bundles which would have included a copy of Watch Dogs. An update from the retailer's official Facebook page confirmed the following:
"For those of you who pre-order the Watch Dogs PlayStation 4 bundle—don't worry—you will still be getting your Playstation 4 (without Watch Dogs) based on your current delivery estimate. We are adjusting the orders now and will update you once we know more."
To account for the now cheaper price tag, Watch Dogs bundles will likely be swapped for standard PS4 orders, as its unlikely other game bundles will be available for substitution. However, the matter of overflow PS4s—generated by consumers who cancel their PS4 orders entirely (the madmen)—was not addressed. If a sizeable chunk of orders are cancelled altogether, a few lucky pre-orderers may yet be able to snag a day-one PS4.
We'll update you when Amazon clarifies their order plans, so stay tuned and hope beyond hope if you missed the pre-order surge.
