Amazon’s Dash Button makes online ordering easier than ever

I'm not going to lie, when I first watched the video introducing the Amazon Dash Button, I thought it was an April Fools' joke. Everything about it, from the absurd concept to the cheesey promotional video, just sounds ridiculous: you place little branded buttons around your house and when your supply runs low you simply press the button — which is linked to your Amazon account via your smartphone app — and it automatically places your order.

"Keep Dash Button handy in the kitchen, bath, laundry, or anywhere you store your favorite products. When you're running low, simply press Dash Button and Amazon quickly delivers household favorites at the same low prices offered on Amazon.com, so you can skip the last-minute trip to the store."

Welcome to the future.

Amazon Dash Button is currently only available for Amazon Prime members. There are a number of brands linked to the device, including Bounty, Clorox, Cottonelle, and many more.

As proof this isn't a joke, Amazon, just about a year ago, unveiled Dash which is similar in concept except it's a handheld Wi-Fi magic wand that's used to keep your pantry stocked with food through AmazonFresh.

For those interested, you can find out more about the Dash Button and even sign up to receive one of these fancy things here.
