It was only yesterday that the New Nintendo 3DS XL Majora's Mask Edition was announced and went on sale. In that day the Limited Edition 3DS sold out, within minutes there were listing for it for around $500 on eBay. Someone bought it at that price, bringing the sale to an end.
Consumers that missed out on the opportunity to purchase the Limited Edition prior to it being sold out are not taking scalpers on Amazon as well as the scalpers on eBay.
What is the tell-tale sign of displeasure on Amazon? The one star reviews of course. Let's take a look at what people are saying about the overpriced New Nintendo 3DS XL Majora's Mask Edition on Amazon:
Char Aznable wrote a Nat Geo-esque narration explaining the scalper in its habitat:
These creatures [scalpers] have no hearts, no emotions, no guilt and no remorse for the foul atrocities they commit. All that matters is that they are lining their greasy, pork grind filled pockets with currency. These creatures are some of the worst creatures mankind has ever seen. Tickets to that concert for that band you like are strangely sold out. That brand new Collector’s Edition for that game franchise you love so much is somehow entirely out of stock. Things that were supposed to be given out for free are now being sold online for insane amounts of money. All thanks to the putrid Scalpers.
Customer yelled:
GARBAGE! Absolute garbage! These people are the one's ruining it for the REAL fans!
Jorge Blanquet "Epyonator" lamented:
I cried, withing the first THREE hours of it's announcement I tried my best to pre-order mine, and I wasn't lucky. I called gamestop headquarters, talked with Best Buy representatives, I even called Nintendo and they had the zelda theme playing while I was waiting to talk to a representative. It is freaking depressing. I love this tittle, this is my favorite Zelda game in history, I really wanted this. This is not fair for any of the Zelda fans. Nintendo should give a special pre-order exclusive to club nintendo members. At least send us an email saying that we have a chance to preorder one copy and it's up to us if we do it or not. Fck this
When all is said and done, scalping is an exploitation of the system and it's wrong. Developers fix game exploits, but there is really no way to fix this exploit unless Amazon enacts a "can't try and sell items before they release" rule…Which would pretty much destroy the pre-order and pre-purchase thing we have going on.
