American Express Serve ending League of Legends RP reward

Last year, Riot Games and American Express introduced a new debit card that would reward cardholders with League of Legends Riot Points — an in-game currency used to purchase champions and skins (alternate costumes) — for every purchase.

That promotion is ending, as American Express Serve announced today that beginning December 1, 2014, you will no longer be able to earn Riot Points with your RP+ card from your American Express Serve Account. You'll still be able to earn Riot Points with your card through November 30, 2014, and any RP that you earn until then will not expire.

Even though you'll no longer be able to earn Riot Points after November 30, you can still continue to use your card. Of course, if you opened your card solely for the RP bonus — like I did — well then there's really no reason to keep it. Looks like I'll be calling to close my card. After the next month, that is.

For those curious as to how the card's rewards worked, you would receive 1,000 Riot Points just for signing up for it and an additional 1,000 points after loading $20 into the account. You could also earn 10,000 Riot Points just for linking the card to a direct deposit account.  After that, you'd earn Riot Points for each purchase you made at a ratio of $3:1RP.
