It was announced this morning that American Sniper was nominated for six categories in the 2015 Oscars. Tomorrow, January 16, 2015, the film releases in theaters.

Directed by Clint Eastwood and based on a true story/the #1 New York Times best-selling autobiography, American Sniper stars Bradley Cooper as Navy SEAL Chris Kyle — the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history. Here is the synopsis:

U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) takes his sole mission — protect his comrades — to heart and becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history. His pinpoint accuracy not only saves countless lives but also makes him a prime target of insurgents. Despite grave danger and his struggle to be a good husband and father to his family back in the States, Kyle serves four tours of duty in Iraq. However, when he finally returns home, he finds that he cannot leave the war behind.

The movie looks intense and Bradley Cooper might walk away with the Best Actor win at the Oscars. It is rated R.

Blackhat -R

Set within the world of global cybercrime, Legendary’s Blackhat follows a furloughed convict and his American and Chinese partners as they hunt a high-level cybercrime network from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Viola Davis, Tang Wei and Wang Leehom.

The Wedding Ringer – R

With less than two weeks to go until he marries the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart), owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides flattering best men for socially challenged guys in need. What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy.

Paddington – PG

Based on the beloved fictional character from children’s literature created by Michael Bond in 1958. The story follows the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear with a passion for all things British who travels to London in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone at Paddington Station, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck ('Please look after this bear. Thank you.') and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist.
