When Satoru Iwata passed away, it shocked the gaming industry (in fact I personally cried). The head man in charge of Nintendo in the early part of the century led the company into the launch of two new consoles and re-emerged the launch of some if its most iconic properties.
A few days ago, analyst Michael Pachter struck a nerve when he referred to Mr. Iwata as the "late and not so great Satoru Iwata". Of course, people were very upset at the apparent disrespect of a gaming industry icon, so Pachter took the opportunity to apologize while speaking with Gamingbolt.
‘I want to take an opportunity to formally and vocally apologize for being crass and unfeeling when I said that Mr Iwata is late but not so great. I think that that was rude, and uncalled for. I did not feel he was a very good businessperson- he was clearly a wonderful, kind man, with a ton of talent, and he shepherded a great company during his tenure there.’
It's good that he apologized, but the comment never should have been made in the first place. Whether or not you agree with one's business practices, it's not the place to critique it in that matter after they have passed away. Either way, glad it's cleared and good on Mr. Pachter for apologizing
