Anarchy Reigns Delayed Until January 2012

Fans of previous PlatinumGames titles (including MadWorld, Vanquish, and Bayonetta) are in store for some disappointment. It was revealed today that the upcoming beat ’em up Anarchy Reigns has been delayed until January 2012. Cue the collective groan of gamers who were hoping to play the game later this year.

News of the delay came courtesy of Sega’s website, which lists the game’s shiny new January 2012 launch for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It’s a shame that we’ll have to wait a bit longer to play the game, but I’ve come to accept delays as positive occurrences that can only spell good news for future titles. Many gamers get upset when a title gets pushed back, but they should know that the developers feel the game needs more work before it meets the highest standards. It’s not like Sega and Platinum are saying, “Hey, we should totally delay this game to anger every one of our fans!”

I was a big proponent of MadWorld when it launched on the Wii, and I’ve been hoping for Jack to bring his badassery to another game. Anarchy Reigns looks to be it, and I can’t wait to see how this tough brawler will be portrayed. Additionally, all of the other characters who have been revealed look awesome, too.

No, Anarchy Reigns won’t be launching this fall. It won’t even be coming out in time for the holidays. But at least we can all look forward to a brand new beat ’em up to play for the new year.
