Best Buy has reportedly begun sending out emails notifying consumers that the retailer is cancelling pre-orders of the Destiny Limited Edition due to supply shortages.
According to the email, which was posted to Destiny's subreddit, Best Buy claims that "the popularity of Destiny Limited Edition exceeded the quantities made available" to the retailer. "As a result, we are unable to fulfill all of the pre-orders received." To make up for the situation, Best Buy is offering affected customers a $50 store credit, suggesting customers put it it towards the Digital Guardian Edition or the Standard Edition.
Best Buy is the latest retailer to cancel Destiny Limited Edition pre-orders, following Walmart's move to cancel Ghost Edition pre-orders last month due to stock shortages. The limited Ghost Edition is sold out at most retailers, with copies selling on eBay for upwards of $1,000.
