Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie WIlliams Join the X-Men Spin-off ‘New Mutants’

Fox has been working on an X-Men spin-off for a while now. The movie New Mutants is finally being cast, with a few notable actors coming across the bill.

Anya Taylor-Joy, previously from The Witch and Split joins the cast. Also, Maisie Williams, most well known for her role as Arya Stark in Game of Thrones will also be joining the film.

The movie, directed by Josh Boone, is heading toward an early July shooting with the script by Boone and Knate Lee. Simon Kinberg and Karen Rosenfelt are heading up producing.

New Mutants, originally by Christ Claremont and Bob McLeod, was the first X-Men spin-off, starting in the early 1980s. As such, its existence as a film is fitting. It follows a diverse group of teenagers known as Moonstar, Wolfsbane, Sunspot, Cannonball, Magik and Warlock.

Taylor-Joy will assume the role of Magik, most well known for her use of teleportation and sorcery. She is also the little sister of X-Men mainstay Colossus. Williams will play Wolfsbane, a girl who struggles to keep hold of her religious beliefs while also turning into a wolf.

New Mutants is set to release April 13, 2018.
