App Store made over $10 billion in 2013

Apple sold more than $10 billion in content last year through its App Store, the company announced today.

Its 30-percent cut of sales enabled Apple to generate $3 billion in revenue, much of which was profitable. December was the best month for sales, Apple also said, with more than $1 billion gained from downloads of nearly 3 billion apps.

Some of the biggest successes were, not surprisingly, Candy Crush Saga, Puzzle & Dragons, and Minecraft, as well as games like Kevin Ng's Impossible Road.
