Apparently, Destiny players are ‘used to paying a premium’ for downloadable content

Leaked employee flier reveals startling truth about Destiny's players

Gamers upset with how Activision and Bungie are handling Destiny's add-on content have no one to blame but themselves. After all, you all enabled it. At least that's what I've learned from a supposed leaked flier sent to retailers for the newly announced in-game quest as part of a promotion with Red Bull.

The flier explains the process for the new Destiny/Red Bull partnership, which grants players access to an exclusive in-game quest in The Taken King through codes obtained by purchasing specially-marked Red Bull cans.

At the bottom though, is a line that reveals a startling truth about Destiny's players, something many of you will probably refuse to admit: "Destiny consumers are used to paying a premium for downloadable content similar to this quest."

Truth hurts, I know. You know why Activision isn't afraid of charging $40 for The Taken King? Because you allow them to. You've already proved to them with past expansions that you're willing to drop serious cash on content that many of us would agree should've been included in the game at launch.

It's one thing if you're actually enjoying the extra content you're paying big bucks for; but, if you're part of the crowd complaining about The Taken King, you better not have purchased any of the previous two expansions because then you're just part of the problem. The new Red Bull promotion is just a product of what gamers have enabled greedy publishers to do. Fed up of the constant nickel-and-diming? Stop giving in. Until we consumers stop feeding into the DLC frenzy, we'll continue to get crap like this.
