Apple hires expert VR researcher

VR has been the current trend. From Xbox' Hololens to the company who recently got blasted by the internet, Oculus; companies are spending all sorts of money to bring what seems to be the next advancement in future technology.
Apple, one of the biggest tech companies, might finally be inserting themselves into the race. They recently hired one of the top US researchers in virtual reality, Doug Bowman. According to his academic profile, Bowman focused on "three-dimensional user interface design and the benefits of immersion in virtual environments”.
Bowman is respected by his peers in the virtual reality world, he even won a couple of prizes and awards for his work in 3D interfaces and VR. People like Ben Wood, an analyst at CSS Insight, thinks Apple is playing their cards close to the chest, unlike Samsung, Google, and Oculus.
“I’d wager that there is a substantial team within Apple figuring out how the company will play a role in this technology,” he said. “It certainly can’t let rivals such as Facebook, Google and Samsung run away with the market, particularly given the groundswell of momentum building around smartphone-based virtual reality.”
Earlier this month Apple filed patents for smartphone-based VR headsets and several other acquisitions that further Apple's interest in VR. The iPhone 7 is scheduled to release later this year, however, we don’t know what to expect, is the next iPhone abandoning the headphone jack? Will we see an announcement for a VR Apple product? Let us know in the comments below!
