Apple was once considered the innovator of the technology industry, but these days it's almost as though they're endlessly playing a game called "Catch Up." When it comes to the recently revealed improved Apple TV, the game has yet to end.
The Apple TV comes with a slew of enhanced features and a new touchpad remote that doubles as a controller when turned sideways. This function is important, because the Apple TV can play games now.
Similar the Amazon Fire TV that was revealed last year, the Apple TV will be shipping with the ability to play a number of games through its own App Store. The first few games revealed for the device were Crossy Road, Rayman Adventures, Skylanders SuperChargers, a mobile version of Guitar Hero Live, a new game from Harmonix called Beat Sports (it's basically Wii Sports for Apple TV) and the previously console-exclusive Disney Infinity. It will be interesting to see how Disney Infinity will be made compatible with the Apple TV, but that's Disney's problem now.
For those of you currently with Apple TV, enjoy buying a new one.
