Apple Watch day one pre-orders are insane

Pre-orders for the Apple Watch began on Friday, April 10, but how did Apple's little gadget do in sales on the first day? Pretty well — by anyone's standards. The Apple Watch pre-orders nearly hit one million in the first 24 hours.

Apple Watches can go anywhere from $349 for the cheapest to $17K for the most expensive. A majority of consumers – 62% – purchased the Sport model, the cheapest of all models ranging anywhere from $349 to $399 depending on the size of the screen (38mm and 42mm, respectively).

The people who bought the Sport model typically went with a black band, which is actually pretty smart; why pay so much for something that you'd have to keep cleaning it so it doesn't look dirty. The average Apple Watch buyer spent around $503.83 on the device (a very specific number). So, nearly one million people will be flooding the Apple stores to get their watches fit when it releases…

As if the store wasn't busy enough.
