Apple Confirms iPad 2 Media Event on March 2

Apple has formally issued invitations for a media event on Wednesday, March 2 for what looks certain to be the iPad 2 unveiling.

An image accompanied with the invite shows the top corner of an iPad hidden behind an iCalendar icon with “Come see what 2011 will be the year of” written just underneath. Many have boasted that 2011 will be the year of the tablet, and Apple seem rather confident in being at the forefront of that claim. Over three million of the original iPads were sold in 80 days, and total sales are knocking on 15 million.

Presuming a fully-fledged iPad 2 announcement, we can expect more power, memory, and an all-important front-facing camera along with the device being put through a full crash test.

The event will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, starting at 10 A.M. Pacific.
