April 2015’s Games with Gold announced for Xbox One and Xbox 360

Microsoft has unveiled next month's Games with Gold, confirming the lineup of free games Xbox LIVE Gold members will get on Xbox One and Xbox 360. As promised, Microsoft will deliver six free new games next month — double the normal amount — as a way to celebrate last month's huge milestone of over 100 million Games with Gold games downloaded.

The six games will be split across both Xbox platforms, with two free games on Xbox One and four free games on Xbox 360.

For Xbox One, we'll be getting Pool Nation FX ($9.99 ERP) AND Child of Light ($14.99 ERP) for free during the month of April.

While the Xbox One games don't seem like much, Child of Light was actually one of my favorite games of last year. With breathtaking visuals, an intriguing story, and engaging combat, Child of Light won't disappoint.

For Xbox 360, the six games will be spread throughout the month. Here's the schedule:

I don't have too much to say about these games, as they're all pretty straightforward.

Gears of War: Judgment is a third-person shooter that takes you back to the immediate aftermath of Emergence Day, the defining event of the Gears of Waruniverse. Terraria, meanwhile, is a roguelike set in a limitless sandbox open-world; you're goal is simply to guide your alter ego to survival by exploiting the environment.

As for the second half of the month, Black Flag is a continuation in Ubisoft's popular Assassin's Creed franchise. The big addition in this game is ship-to-ship combat, which makes sense considering the game's setting in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of piracy. Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel offers a completely different experience in the form of a third-person shooter that focuses primarily on cooperative gameplay. The pits you and a buddy against a ruthless drug cartel in La Guadaña

They may not be the newest or best of games, but they're all at least worth a look. Either way, it's hard to complain about free stuff — especially when it's $100 worth of free games.
