April Fools’ Day joke becomes a reality with Arma 3 Karts

Mario Kart 8 isn't the only kart racing game to release today. Following up on an April Fools' Day gag, Bohemia Interactive actually created and released Arma 3 Karts, downloadable content for its more-realistic military first-person shooter Arma 3.

You can buy Arma 3 Karts right now on Steam for $1.99, with a portion of the sales donated to the Czech Red Cross. Below is the original April Fools' Day prank video. Well played, Bohemia.

While today's DLC is a fun little add-on, Bohemia recently posted a roadmap of Arma 3's DLC strategy. Basically, the company wants to release new content without segmenting the game's community. To solve this, you'll still be able to use premium content even if you don't "own it," but there will be some restrictions in place for single-player scenarios, and you'll be shown notifications encouraging you to purchase the DLC if you use it long enough.
