‘Aquaman’ director, James Wan, says not to expect a dark tone for the movie

James Wan, director of 'Aquaman', weighs in on everyone's expectations for the first live-action adaptation of the famed king of Atlantis.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, James Wan addressed the perceived tone of the current films being released for Warner Bros.' DC Cinematic Universe, and how it will affect the upcoming Aquaman movie. Despite the dark, gritty attitude of films like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it seems that Aquaman will have a much lighter feel and plans to shy away from anything too depressing. Wan had this to say:

"[Aquaman] won't be very dark…It is at the bottom of the ocean, so I'll use a lot of light!"
'Aquaman' already plans to take several novel approaches to its production, not just with its overall emotional gravity, but also the execution of some of its trickier underwater scenes, taking cues from Zack Snyder's introduction of the character in Justice League- Part I and filming them all on blue screens.
Jason Mamoa will be playing Arthur Curry/Aquaman, joined by Amber Heard as Mera/Aquawoman, and Willem Dafoe as a so far yet unknown Atlantean ally.
Aquaman releases July 27, 2018!
