If you thought ARK: Survival Evolved was some kind of simple survival dinosaur game, you're wrong. It's way more than that, in fact, the developers have brought a new feature to the game: dinosaur breeding. That's right folks, survivors will be able to breed dinosaurs in order to raise stronger, more powerful generations of dinosaurs.
The developers revealed the new feature through a post on Steam:
“Survivors will be given the opportunity to pair two members of the same species together, even across Tribes if you’ve got a particularly well endowed creature. This results in offspring with a random selection of traits from both parents, along with a degree of arbitrary mutation.
“Your new tiny friends will grow dynamically in real time and will need to be cared for to reach their ultimate potential.”
You see that bit of bolded text? Yeah, I did that for you. Notice that it says 'in real time.' That means that you will breed a dinosaur, it will lay an egg, the egg will need to be incubated, the egg will hatch – producing a "small helpless" baby dinosaur and will need to grow into an adult — all in what the game uses as 'real time.'
I hope you like defending things, cause that baby is going to need some serious protection in order to grow. It will be worth-while though, imagine taking some weakling dino breed and making it into a super muscular dinosaur… In much more time than Barney got ripped using some over the counter drug.
