ARK: Survival Evolved looks like a Jurassic Park fan’s wet dream

So many open-world, survival games rely on the same premise — usually some post-apocalyptic setting in which the entire world is overrun by zombies, and you must simply survive. Breaking free of that mold is ARK: Survival Evolved, a newly announced open-world survival game in which you are dropped on to a mysterious island inhabited by dinosaurs.

Naked, freezing and starving, you must hunt, harvest, craft items, grow crobs, and build shelters to survive. Will you, like the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, find a way?

What makes ARK: Survival Evolved unique, though, is that you'll be surviving from dinosaurs and other preimeval creatures, not your overdone zombie. According to the press release, you're not just surviving from these dinosaurs either; you'll be able to tame and ride them in the world that can be filled with hundreds of other players who are probably also out to kill you for your supplies. Survival of the fittest.

Aside from an announcement trailer and a brief description, not much was revealed about ARK: Survival Evolved, which looks like every Jurassic Park fans' wet dream.

ARK: Survival Evolved will be available for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. It's scheduled to hit early access on Steam in June 2015. Over on the PlayStation Blog, it was confirmed that ARK will be compatible with Sony's Project Morpheus VR headset.
