The developers behind ARK: Survival Edition are offering money to anyone that can provide them with legitimate hacks or exploits that have the potential to impact gameplay or server stability on the official servers.
ZeroDay(++) is going down in history as the first bounty for ARK, within two hours of submitted a potential hack/exploit the user was $100 richer.
ARK developers, Studio Wildcard, detailed the first official bounty as they worked through to prove whether or not the exploit would be game breaking. Check out the turn of events in detail below:
- 2:00 pm: ZeroDay(++) Contacted us about a potential hack/exploit which could force servers to crash unexpectedly, as well as have other unintended side-effects.
- 2:58 pm: ZeroDay(++) provided the steps for reproducing the issue.
- 3:25 pm: Issue reproduced internally and confirmed.
- 3:50 pm: Bounty confirmed and payment for issue approved.
- 4:06 pm: Payment sent through Paypal.
Studio Wildcard offered their congratulations to ZeroDay(++), as do we. This isn't the first time Studio Wildcard has offered things to their community in the past and hopefully it won't be the last.
Hiring the individuals that pay to play your game to find bugs and report them for cash prizes is actually pretty amazing. It calls upon the community, it makes the game better and it gives back to the community.
