Ascend: New Gods gets an official name change

Ascend: New Gods is now officially known as Ascend: Hand of Kul. Rumors of the name change first surfaced this week, thanks to the investigative folks at NeoGAF who first spotted Microsoft's trademark. But today, PlayXBLA confirmed that the rumors are true.

The reasoning behind the name change is a result of the New Gods no longer being "new" since the game's big unveiling at E3 2012. "It was a tough decision, but during their board meeting in The Sanctum a couple of weeks ago, the New Gods decided to step down from power," the post offered. It's believed the new title is a "more story-centric name."

Ascend: Hand of Kul will release as a free-to-play game on the Xbox 360 — hopefully sometime in 2013.
