Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation ‘as large and deep’ as the console entries

Despite being release on the PlayStation Vita, Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation is every bit as "large" as its console counterparts in the AC series. Ubisoft has released a new developer documentary for Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, their upcoming title which brings "key pillars" of the franchise and delivers it on the PlayStation Vita.

Although still titled Assassin's Creed 3, this version introduces a new female assassin — a first for the series — who goes by the name Aveline de Grandpre.

"She's sort of drawn to question her values and assumptions," explains scriptwriter Jill Murray, "and she's pulled in different directions by both the Assassins and the Templars."

In addition to discussing Liberation's 18th century time period and Louisiana location, the developers also highlight the key features for Assassin's Creed 3 on the PlayStation Vita.

"In terms of the scale of Liberation, we wanted to replicate the console experience on a handheld," adds lead scriptwriter Corey May. "So you will find that it's as large and deep as any of the other console entries in the franchise."

"We tend to focus on what we consider pivotal moments in human history and the time of the American Revolution is obviously a very critical one, not just for the colonies and the United States itself, but actually for the entire world," he concludes.

As sort of an addition to the upcoming console version of Assassin's Creed 3, Aveline will (at some point) meet up with new series protagonist Connor, but Ubisoft didn't reveal how the two will interact. Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation is set to release on October 30 for the PlayStation Vita.
