Assassin’s Creed 3’s PS3-exclusive DLC has you ‘Expose Benedict Arnold’

I'm sure you've read about Benedict Arnold's story in your history books, but now, thanks to some exclusive PS3 DLC, you can relive it when you get Assassin's Creed 3.

Sony and Ubisoft today lifted the curtain on the mysterious DLC which apparently takes place over "a four-mission arc that begins with a special request from George Washington in exposing a rumored plot to overthrow West Point, a critical link in the defense of the Colonies against Great Britain."

"Across four missions, Connor will flush out Loyalist spies and work undercover for Benedict Arnold, culminating in a full-blown assault on West Point that Connor must halt at all costs," the description reads on the PlayStation Blog.

Unlike the Tyranny of King Washington DLC which is the first of five planned downloadable content packs being offered through an Assassin's Creed 3 Season Pass, Expose Benedict Arnold will be available only on PlayStation 3 when the game launches on October 30. It also will not take place in an alternate history fiction, according to Ubisoft, but will instead offer a more historically accurate view while taking "some liberties in terms of the action."

"Our interpretation of Arnold actually weaves into the overall fiction and to divulge that would be to spoil a portion of the story," explained Assassin's Creed 3 scriptwriter Matt Turner. "That being said, we don’t like having “bad guys” in Assassin’s Creed and this is no different in terms to Arnold and these missions. He has his reasons, and from a certain perspective they make complete sense. "

Sony or Ubisoft didn't reveal too much about the DLC, but Turner did say activities in the Expose Benedict Arnold DLC "range from the mundane to the epic," so take that for what it's worth.

Assassin's Creed 3 is set to release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on October 30, 2012. Earlier today, Ubisoft unveiled a new interactive trailer that gives you a nice feel for the diverse combat offered in the game.
