Well, cross feudal Japan off our list of possible locations for the next Assassin's Creed. Speaking to AdWeek, Ubisoft Toronto boss Jade Raymond revealed that Assassin's Creed 5, or whatever Ubisoft calls the next installment in the series, won't take place in feudal Japan. While she wouldn't reveal the actual setting, she did hint that it'll be set in her "favorite historical era."
Ubisoft has yet to announce a new Assassin's Creed title for 2014, though the franchise has seen a new release in the core series every year since 2009. Assassin's Creed 3 took place in Colonial America during the American Revolution, while last year's title, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag was set during the Golden Age of Piracy. Where could 2014's Assassin's Creed take us? I have no idea, but we have our own list of locations that we would love to see (but probably won't).
On the plus side, Raymond said feudal Japan would be a "cool idea," so it's possible that a future entry could use that setting. As revealed by AC4 creative director Jean Guesdon, feudal Japan is the second-most requested setting, behind World War II.
