Back in 2008 we saw a side-scrolling Assassin's Creed pre-quel game called Assassin's Creed: Altairs Chronicles. Now, that spin-off is breeding a bunch of Assassin's Creeds Chronicles spin-offs.
It's side-scrolling spin-offs on spin-offs a la Ubisoft.
While there is only one game announced so far, there are plenty being planned. The first new Chronicles game will be Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China, it will feature the Chinese Assassin Shao Jun and will be developed by Climax Studios in the UK. Assassin Shao Jun isn't entirely new to the series, she appeared in the Assassin's Creed: Revelations novel and in Assassin's Creed: Embers, an animated epilogue for Revelations.
Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China will be represented in an art style that fits the era, creative director Alex Amancio explained in an interview with Eurogamer:
"One thing that's really cool is that every one of the chapters of this game will be in the art style representative of that era in time. This is why Shao Jun's game is like Chinese ink – very black and red.
Once we have other characters and timeframes the art style will completely change to match that specific character."
When it comes to whether or not we will be seeing assassin's from previous Assassin's Creed games, Amancio wouldn't spoil the surprise:
"I don't want to spoil the surprise, but the idea is that we have this rich universe – we're going to use it."
Where would you like to see Assassin's Creed Chronicles go after China?
