Assassin’s Creed III being developed by 7 different studios

The first official Assassin's Creed III trailer was released today, setting the bar for what Ubisoft says is their "most ambitious title in the company's history".

In development for three years – since the conclusion of Assassin's Creed IIAssassin's Creed III is the collaborative efforts of seven different Ubisoft studios, with Ubisoft Montreal heading the development.

The newest installment to the Assassin's Creed franchise, the game features a new engine, Ubisoft-AnvilNext, for improved visuals, character models, and AI.  The new engine will allow the game to feature battles full of fighters, on the massive scale needed to replicate an authentic American Revolution environment.

Assassin's Creed III will ditch the franchise's main protagonist Ezio and instead feature a brand new hero, Ratohnaké:ton, or Connor, who is of Native American and English heritage.

"Assassin's Creed III features the franchise's most expansive setting so far, along with an exciting new hero and exponentially more gameplay," said Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot.

"Whether you're a longtime fan of Assassin's Creed or if you're new to the franchise, you're going to be blown away by the scale and marvel of Assassin's Creed III."
