Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed movie has officially entered production and will begin shooting soon, Ubisoft's Chief Executive Officer Yves Guillemot announced during today's earnings call.
"This is a very important milestone for the project," he said.
Although the film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 21, 2016, we still know very little about the movie adaptation of Ubisoft's popular action-adventure video game franchise. We know it's being directed by Justin Kurzel, penned by Exodus writers Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, and starring Michael Fassbender. Other than the plot being a mixture of the game and new story elements, the film is still very much a mystery.
On a related note, Assassin's Creed Rogue and Assassin's Creed Unity — the two most recent installments in the game franchise — combined for 10 million units shipped in the third quarter of the fiscal year ended December 31, 2014.
