Ubisoft Montreal hasn’t made any secret in their enthusiasm over the dual protagonists for the latest entry to their headline franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. Not only will Syndicate bring the story forward into the 19th century and introduces the first female playable character in the main series, it also offers two wildly differing approaches to combat and exploration as you scale London during the Industrial Revolution.
“Jacob is an extremely charismatic, very confident personality. He’s a leader. On the other side, you have Evie who tends to be more cautious, she’s more on the strategic side, she has stealth-specific skills that are specific to her. It’s that duality between the two within the story that really makes those characters stand out.” This is how senior producer François Pelland describes the dichotomy between the two fighting styles, an approach that seeks to support multiple gamer preferences.
Not only does this method add diversity in combat but it also incorporates the new methods of traversing environments, specifically with regards to the Thames. “We treat the Thames almost as its own borough in a way, because it really does have its own story, it has its own way of functioning, I should say. Without getting into too much detail too far in advance, we knew we needed to be true to what the purpose of the river Thames was back then,” Pelland continued. Continuing with the theme of transportation, players will also be offered free range train hopping and carriage jumping.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate comes to next gen consoles October 23rd.
