Assassin’s Creed: Unity ‘Dead Kings’ DLC out next week

It will be free!

Ubisoft announced today that Assassin's Creed: Unity's new story-driven downloadable content, Dead Kings, will be released next week on January 13, 2015, for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. While initially intended to be released as paid-for DLC, Dead Kings will now be released for free to all Assassin's Creed: Unity players thanks as an apology for all of the glitches and bugs that plagued the game's launch.

As for the actual content, Dead Kings introduces a new campaign that lets you explore the crypts of France's fallen leaders and discover the mysteries that lie within these shadowy depths.

After the events of Assassin’s Creed Unity, Arno leaves Paris for Saint Denis, a mysterious city that holds the crypts of deceased French kings. Sent on a mission to the extensive underground of the Basilica, Arno will face a faction of new foes, the Raiders, populating its catacombs. Equipped with a lantern and a new powerful weapon, the Guillotine gun, Arno will have to navigate the dangerous passageways to uncover the darkest secrets of the city.

In total, with all of the world activities and side missions, Dead Kings is said to offer "over five hours of extra gameplay," which I'll gladly play for free. And for those of you who purchased Unity's Season Pass, make sure you claim your free game.
