Atari has been releasing details on their upcoming console, the Ataribox, over the past few month. In June, they confirmed they were working on a new console and in July they revealed the two versions of the console.
Earlier this month, Atari confirmed that they were working on two games for the console, one of which is a reboot and the other is a brand new IP. Other details from Atari have revealed that the console will come with classic Atari games preloaded on the device, as well as current titles from other studios.
A recent email from Atari has supplied us with further information on the Ataribox itself and no word on what games will be featured on it.
According to the email, the Ataribox is looking at a late Spring 2018 release window with an "expected price range" of $249 to $299, depending on "specific editions" and "memory configurations." The Ataribox will feature a customized processor from AMD with Radeon Graphics and will run on Linux. Choosing Linux as an operating system allows for the device to be more accessible to owners.
Additionally, Atari detailed the system as "a full PC experience for the TV" that will bring "streaming, applications, social, browsing, music, and more."
More details are expected in the coming weeks.
