Persona 5 is still on track to release in Japan, the US and the EU this year, according to Atlus USA PR Manager John Hardin.
“We don’t want another Shin Megami Tensei 4 or Devil Survivor Overclocked situation,” Hardin told GodIsAGeekin a recent interview, referring to the long delays the SMT franchise has seen in Europe. “We are very aware of what happens when we make premature announcements for Europe. At least I am.
“The only thing I can confirm for Persona 5 is 2015," he said.
It’s important to note that Hardin specifically refers to markets outside Japan in his discussion of Persona 5’s release , as it has yet to make its debut in the island nation as well. Quite notably, the official English site for the game also lists it for a 2015 release for PS3 and PS4.
Unfortunately, Hardin did not address the rumor regarding a December date for the game. The notion first cropped up near the end of June with the news that the next edition of the Persona magazine, which historically releases in the same month as new games, will come this December.
If nothing else, we can bet on ample Persona 5 coverage from this year's Tokyo Game Show.
